Referral Coordinator- Family Health



General Summary: A non-exempt medical office position responsible for all referrals for the medical offices in the market



Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Process patient referrals for the practices in the market

2. Coordinate scheduling of office visits for the referred patient

3. Assist patient with finding resources that accept the various insurances

4. Obtains pre-authorization from payers.

5. Set up referring providers in the Electronic System

Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma/GED with completion or a medical assisting or medical office assistant program preferred.

Certification: Prefer healthcare management/administration or Medical Assistant certification.

Experience: Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience working in a medical office setting





Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

1. Knowledge of insurance verification process

2. Knowledge of specific Insurances such as Medicare and Tricare Prime

3. Knowledge of documentation required for physician appointments.

4. Knowledge of Electronic Health Systems

5. Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes

6. Knowledge of the policies and procedures of a clinic sufficient to provide effective patient care.

1. Ability to multi-task, manage details and organize efficiently and effectively.

2. Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures.

3. Ability to set priorities among multiple requests.

4. Ability to interact with patients, medical and administrative staff, and the public effectively.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
