Medical Office Receptionist - Experience Required

Pacific Eye has an exciting opportunity to for someone with exceptional customer service skills and a strong work ethic to join our team as a Front Office Receptionist in San Luis Obispo! Our practice has multiple doctors and requires someone who can work in a very fast paced environment.

A successful candidate MUST possess 1-3 years of experience in a busy medical office in which you have handled some of the following tasks:
Patient Check-In
1. Responsible for patient check-in, greeting everyone in a pleasant and professional manner.
2. Track patients in the reception area and communicate with them, as needed.
3. Evaluate chart data to verify all information has been received, completed, and signatures obtained.
4. Photocopy/Scan patient's current insurance card.
5. Ensure that proper authorization or referral is collected from the patient.
6. Assist patients in obtaining authorization or referrals that have not been received by the practice.
7. Enter all new patient demographic information into the computer.
8. Put charts in bin for specific physician or technician.
9. Mark arrival time of patients in office and make sure that patients are seen on time.
10. Communicate with patients if there will be a delay. Offer to reschedule if patient unable to stay.
11. Maintain refreshments in lobby area.
12. Keep lobby area maintained in clean and orderly status. Remove waste when needed.
13. Monitor patient bathroom for supplies, restock if necessary.
Patient Check-Out
1. Check-out all patients. Review fee sheets for correct charges and diagnosis marked: enter information into computer.
2. Ensure patients understand their condition and treatment: provide and special instruction to patients upon leaving.
3. Be sure the patient understands the doctor's instructions.
4. Check that patients have been given appropriate prescriptions.
5. Schedule return appointments for follow-up, as necessary.
6. Schedule patients for transfer of care and any required diagnostic testing.
7. Explain all fees and patient financial responsibility.
8. Verify patient insurance and address information.
9. Secure all necessary patient signatures, obtain proper informed consent and insurance authorization.
10. Collect fee for services.
11. Ensure patient satisfaction.
12. Commute from office to office as needed.
1 Place telephone calls to new patients to confirm upcoming appointments and verify information required of the patient at the time of appointment.
2. Place telephone calls on no-show appointments; reschedule as needed.
3. Provide support on telephones.
4. Inspect reception room for neatness.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years minimum experience in medical practice.
Bilingual Spanish Speaking ability is preferred.
Some travel between offices so valid driver's license and auto insurance are required.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
