In this role, you will provide essential support to a sole attorney by communicating with clients, assisting with administrative tasks, and drafting legal documents.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare legal documents, such as pleadings and Judicial Council forms - Organize and maintain physical and electronic files - Assist attorney in preparing for trials and hearings by preparing trial/hearing exhibits, briefs, witness lists, etc.
- Draft correspondence and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, Court Reporters and court personnel - Management of case files and deadlines - Perform administrative tasks, such as filing, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and intake of potential new clients Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Experience gathering relevant information from clients to complete financial disclosures timely - Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and track deadlines precisely - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation - Knowledge of both San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County Family Court Rules and deadlines -Ability to track billable time and enter in practice management software daily -Familiarity with Clio, Adobe, DocuSign, Thomson West, etc.
