Job Summary Under the general direction of the Director for Student Diversity and Belonging, the Dream Center Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of programs and services offered by Student Diversity and Belonging to engage and support undocumented, DACA, as well as students from mixed-status families, at Cal Poly.
The Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director in identifying, collaborating and maintaining relationships and partnerships within Cal Poly and the community to create, develop, and implement programs and services that support the retention and academic success of undocumented students.
This is a 6-month 1-day temporary position with the possibility of an extension.
Department Summary Student Diversity and Belonging (SDAB) is a collaborative sub-division of campus community centers that serve an active role in creating a culturally rich environment at Cal Poly's campus and in San Luis Obispo.
We instill understanding of diversity and inclusive excellence that cannot be separate from learning, teaching, collaboration, trust and community.
Our unit is comprised of the following campus community centers:
Black Academic Excellence Center, Dream Center, Gender Equity Center, MultiCultural Center, Pride Center, the Men & Masculinities Program and the Native and Indigenous Cultural Center.
SDAB will be expanding in the next 5 years to include specific initiatives that support Latinx and APIDA students.
Key Qualifications Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of providing student services support to underrepresented, first generation, and/or low-income students.
General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management.
General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior.
Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements.
Ability to obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews and reason logically.
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; OR a Master's degree and one year of experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range:
$4,612 - $5,035 Per Month Classification Range:
