Unit 7 - CSUEU - Clerical and Administrative Support Services, Administrative, Probationary, Full Time, Telecommute eligible (work onsite as scheduled and/or as requested and telecommute as scheduled) Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Development, the purpose of this position is to provide the clerical, technical, and administrative support functions for the Senior Director of Development, and, as needed, the CLA Public Affairs & Communications Specialists for the activities and programs that support strategic fundraising objectives in the CLA including but not limited to:
clerical and administrative assistance, logistical support for advancement and alumni events; donor communications and research, office purchases, account reconciliation and expenditure reports, and travel coordination.
In addition to coordinating the day-to-day support operations of the office, the candidate will also provide follow-up information and/or training, as needed, for each of the departments regarding advancement policies, procedures, and objectives.
This individual will coordinate gift processing procedures and advancement expenditures.
This person must be technologically proficient, have strong writing skills, and be able to work well independently.
The ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment with multiple ongoing projects is a must.
Department Summary The College of Liberal Arts (CLA) consists of 18 academic departments and programs, with approximately 350 faculty and 70 staff, serving 3,500 students in 18 undergraduate majors, 4 graduate programs, and over 30 minors.
The CLA includes disciplines that represent five broad areas of knowledge:
the fine and performing arts, communications, the humanities, the social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies.
In addition to offering courses for its own majors, CLA offers a significant proportion of courses in general education, as well as courses that support minors and serve as electives for all majors throughout the university.
The CLA is also home to the foundational disciplines that form the scholarly bases for cultural awareness, knowledge, and skills, making the college's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion central to the college's curriculum and identity.
Further, the CLA plays a significant role in providing activities that enhance the cultural and intellectual environment of the campus, including exhibits and performances offered by our academic departments (e.

, Art, Music, Theatre & Dance) and Cal Poly Arts, cultural programs and lecture series offered by all of our departments, and co-curricular programs such as Mustang Media, Debate, and Model UN.
The college's degree program offerings combined with its general education offerings comprise approximately 30% of the university's instruction.
The College of Liberal Arts has the largest general-fund operating budget of all the colleges on campus (about $45 million).
The College is also the home of Cal Poly Arts and Spanos Theatre.
The role of University Advancement (UA) is to provide a seamless and coordinated program of outreach that fosters strong relationships with internal and external partners to enhance support for Cal Poly.
UA works in close collaboration with Cal Poly stakeholders, garnering the support necessary to fulfill the University's mission and accomplish its strategic goals.
UA has broad responsibilities - fundraising, communications/marketing, alumni relations, and government relations, and operates in a model that requires and encourages collaboration with partners across campus.
Key Qualifications 1.
Ability to work independently, identify department priorities, and assign work accordingly.

Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
3.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
4.
Strong working knowledge of concepts related to personnel policies and procedures, including an ability to perform business math, such as for calculating ratios and percentages for salaries and weighted teaching units (WTUs), and the ability to make accurate projections requiring some inference.
5.
Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Superior interpersonal skills and demonstrated success at conflict resolution.
6.
Strong working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn University infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
Ability to interpret, communicate and apply policies and procedures.
Education and Experience High school diploma or its equivalent.
Type 45 wpm.
Five years of general office support or technical experience.
(Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for two years of required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience).
Salary and Benefits Anticipated Hiring Range:
$46,244 - $60,348 annually Classification Range:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
