Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Director of Clinical Services with lead work direction from the Health Information Technician, this position performs general clerical and administrative support duties pertaining to Health Information Services.
Department Summary The purpose of Campus Health & Wellbeing is to help students achieve and maintain academic success and lifelong health and well-being by providing timely and appropriate primary and acute health care, disease and injury prevention education, professional mental health, outreach, educational services, and campus consultations.
Key Qualifications Ability to quickly learn applicable automated health information and database management systems and ability to maintain privacy and security of medical records and health information in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations and university policy.
Ability to quickly learn evidence code, California Health & Welfare codes affecting the transmission of medical records, Family Education Rights and Protection Act (FERPA), and the Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act (HIPAA).
Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough, and, at times, creative solutions.
Ability to actively problem solve and use effective interpersonal skills when working as a front-line contact with a variety of campus and community individuals.
Demonstrated customer service skills, including a high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
Education and Experience High school diploma or its equivalent.
Three years of general office support experience.
(Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for two years of the required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience.
