Job Summary Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of Parking & Events, the Community Service Specialist I is responsible for patrolling the campus on foot and/or by vehicle to provide enforcement of campus parking rules and regulations, including issuing citations; immobilizing and impounding vehicles; directing traffic and assisting police with traffic accidents and emergency calls for services; and providing parking information and general university information to visitors, students, staff and faculty.
Department Summary TAPS provides vital parking services, including permits and event parking for the Cal Poly Community.
Key Qualifications Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
Working knowledge of applicable procedures and regulations related to federal, state and campus policies, affecting public safety, and parking operations Ability to verbally convey clear and precise communications, directions and commands; and ability to observe and to respond appropriately to resolve parking and traffic conflicts or problems using reasonable judgment.
Ability to observe and recall details and incidents, as well as detect and respond appropriately to potentially hazardous situations.
Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent and three months of related experience.
