Job Summary The HR Assistant is responsible for supporting a variety of standard office functions for the Human Resources Department, as well as benefits-specific data entry and processing, form and publication maintenance, imaging and filing, and fee waiver program support.
Department Summary The Human Resources Assistant is part of the Human Resources Department's Benefits and Employee Services team which is dedicated to providing employees with comprehensive benefits programs and employee services that contribute to an engaged and equitable experience for all employees.
Key Qualifications Demonstrated customer service experience in a complex organization requiring a very high level of diplomacy, professionalism and courtesy at all times with staff, faculty, students and the general public in-person, on the telephone, and via email.
Ability to screen mail, telephone calls, and visitors, and to understand typical office correspondence and clearly explain routine procedures and policies Demonstrated ability to deal with campus staff, managers, students, administrators and the public with tact and professionalism; determine how best to meet needs, and respond or refer appropriately either within the department or to other resources.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of all files and information regarding department and university matters.
Education and Experience High school diploma or its equivalent.
Type 45 wpm.
Three years of general office support experience.
(Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for two years of the required experience on the basis of one year of college education for 6 months of experience.
